Hotel Oderberger

  • Oderberger Str. 57, 10435 Berlin, Germany

Where other than Berlin would you find a boutique hotel set in a converted 19th century swimming pool? Whilst the recently opened Hotel Oderberger is a little larger and pricier than our usual Doris & Dicky fare, we think it’s well worth it for its cool design and intriguing history. Rooms are minimalist and elegant in design with smooth wooden floors and sleek white-tiled walls (not dissimilar in vibe to the changing rooms of the building’s previous incarnation). Bathrooms are stylish and modern with rainfall showers and luxe smellies. There are good value single options if you are travelling alone and it’s worth noting that whilst rooms are spacious enough - the Premium options are set on the higher floors and offer nicer views. This is a decidedly cool new addition to the Berlin boutique hotel scene – offering something a little different but luxurious nonetheless.

A few details

Facilities There is a pool that is open to guests and the public for an extra charge (though it's worth noting that it's sometimes closed for private events). There will be the addition of a spa and sauna later this year
Food + Drink For the moment, breakfast is served in a separate building at restaurant Die Schule just a 3-minute walk from the hotel. There is a bar on the ground floor that’s open each evening and a restaurant is set to open in spring next year but, for the meantime, you’ll need to head out for lunch and dinner – no bad thing, considering the plentiful options nearby
Neighbourhood Set to the north of the city in the increasingly smart Prenzlauer Berg district, you’re spoilt for choice on great eateries, boutiques and galleries. The Sunday flea market is a particular highlight
Location U Eberswalder Straße and Senefelderplatz Underground Stations are both around a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Berlin Tegel Airport is around 11km away Schönefeld Airport is around 25km away

Best time to go

There is no bad time to visit Berlin but for us springtime is our favourite time when the weather is warming up but there are fewer tourists around
